Blame Cannada

Oh, grandma

Hold on, Grandma! You’re gonna have to give me a minute!”

Those were my words Saturday night as my beloved Tar Heels dropped a last-second loss to Texas on the road in disgusting fashion.

Clemson fans, you sit on a throne of lies!

Confetti fell, Dabo recited his victory speech during a post-game interview and DeShaun Watson performed the Heisman pose with the ACC Championship trophy…but it was all LIES.

You see, Clemson didn’t beat North Carolina on Saturday night.

The referees did.

Calling it quits

Kobe Bryant is retiring, and he’s taking a big piece of my basketball-shaped heart with him.

I have to admit, when I heard this news a few days ago, I wasn’t shocked. Kobe has been a shadow of his former self these past few seasons, battling injury and suffering through some terrible years with some terrible teams.

For Gee

For a few minutes last Friday night, it wasn’t about a Greer football game.

It wasn’t about beating Union County. It wasn’t about the second round of the playoffs. It had nothing to do with an undefeated Yellow Jacket team.

It was about the team’s number one fan, Gee.

Playoffs predictions

The playoffs are finally here and two of our teams have a legitimate opportunity to make some history in the next few weeks. Greer has been on a tear once again, breezing through the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record.

Historically, I’m not a Halloween guy.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got no problem with the holiday. I love scary movies, I love candy, I love fall weather. Actually, I just love October in general.

But Halloween, I can normally do without.

Breaking records

It was a record-setting week for a couple of local high school football players.

Greer’s Mario Cusano and Blue Ridge’s Jason Sammons each worked their way into the history books with stellar performances in week nine, and what’s even better is that we get to see them square off against each other Friday night.

Out of the loop

Something’s happening to me and I can’t explain what it is.

Apparently, I’m just a bad sports fan. This comes as a shock to me, as I’ve spent the better half of my life honing my sports knowledge and watching countless hours of games. But during a recent conversation with my non-sports-fan wife, I realized that I’m slipping….big time.

Spurrier quit?

The story didn’t end the way it should’ve for Steve Spurrier.

The often quotable and fun-to-watch head ball coach apparently called it quits this week, stepping down from the South Carolina job he’s occupied for 10 years.
