Blame Cannada

It is relevant

The entire world is enjoying the spectacle that is the World Cup and the United States remains stuck in the same old, tired discussion.

Will soccer ever “catch on” in America?

Pucker up, sis

I think I speak for the entire country when I say, “What was that?’

I imagine very few things in life are as dissatisfying as the way Sunday’s World Cup match between the United States and Portugal ended.

World Cup bliss

Oh soccer, why did I ever abandon thee?

It only took a few seconds — 32 seconds to be exact — for me to pose that question, internally, while watching the United States squeak by Ghana 2-1 in the opening match of World Cup group play.

Watching my sports

I have a sports-watching dilemma, as most of you may know.

A few months ago, my wife and I decided to ditch cable in favor of more money every month and a little extra free time. I didn’t really think about how that would impact my ability to keep up with sporting events, but I wish I had.

A football fix

Around this time each year, football fans get a shot in the arm.

For football-oholics like myself, it’s not nearly enough to tide you over until the fall, but it does provide just enough to take the edge off.

An evening out

It was after business hours on Trade Street last Wednesday. Most people were on their way home. Shop owners could be seen locking up and people were beginning to gather at their favorite downtown restaurants to enjoy a nice meal.

Southern Thymes had been closed for a while after having served lunch and breakfast earlier.

What a bore

Who’s ready for a Pacers/Spurs NBA finals?

Did I just bore you to death in one sentence? I thought so.

Both of these teams took game on of their conference finals, but neither of them would be good for the NBA in a championship series.

The life of a teacher

What a job teachers have!

These dedicated individuals certainly deserve more than a day to celebrate their hard work, but sadly they won’t get it. These essential and passionate people often get overlooked, only to be fussed at when something doesn’t go according to plan.

I should know. I live with one.
