I have news. This will likely be the last “Keeping Up With Jones” column. I will no longer be with The Greer Citizen. I know, I know – you’re devastated.
Keeping Up With Jones
Eastside and other high schools in the area are getting ready for their annual spirit weeks. If you are unfamiliar with these traditions, you really are missing something special.
Everyone has gone back to school at this point and that includes yours truly.
I don’t think I’ve mentioned this in great detail in past columns, but I have spent the past year or so handling my grandmother’s estate. It has been an adventure, to say the least.
Unrelated programming note: That giraffe still hasn’t had her baby. I think she’s doing this to spite me.
On with the show!
By the time you read this, Greenville may have another baby giraffe. At the rate Autumn, the pregnant giraffe is progressing, we may not. Apparently, birth isn’t quick.
I love back to school time. It helps that I’m not going back to school and don’t have kids headed back.
Dale and I have been watching the ridiculous reality show, “Out of the Wild: Venezuela.” It’s a Discovery Channel show about several people who volunteer for one of the most insane challenges ever.
I’ve said it before and will say it again: children don’t need to be coddled as much as they are. It’s a shame. Given the tiniest amount of freedom, they do amazing things.
Until I was 18 years old, my family almost always had a dog – or a few. When I went off to college, however, we were dogless.
